“LIKE I DO”
This Tate McRae-inspired music video concept was created in collaboration with a talented group of local dancers from the Charlotte area. The project was designed to blend the high-energy style of today's pop music with the nostalgic visual storytelling and aesthetic influences of the early 2000s.
Drawing inspiration from the music videos and youth culture of that era, we selected a park setting, vintage-inspired wardrobe pieces, and a camcorder-style filming approach to create an authentic and carefree atmosphere. The goal was to capture the feeling of friendship, freedom, and self-expression that defined many iconic pop videos from the early 2000s while incorporating contemporary choreography and performance elements.
Throughout the creative process, the dancers contributed their own personalities and artistry, helping bring the concept to life in a way that felt both fresh and nostalgic. From the styling and movement to the visual editing choices, every element was intentionally crafted to evoke the charm of home-video footage and the raw, unfiltered energy of a summer day spent with friends.
This project served as a creative collaboration and portfolio piece, highlighting choreography, performance, direction, and visual storytelling. No copyright ownership of the music used in this project is claimed. This work was created for artistic, educational, and portfolio purposes only.
